Fashion Design Marketplace Program improves the capacities of FDC designers

January 15, 2019 – Eighteen young fashion designers presented their new clothing collections for men, women, and children categories for Egyptian MSMEs during the closing event of the Fashion Design Marketplace Program held on 15 Jan at the Fashion Design Center (FDC).

The eighteen designers have created their collections in accordance with the market needs of 12 Ready-Made Garments (RMG) MSMEs manufacturers, with the objective of penetrating markets and offering added value products in-line with national and international standards.

The designs have been developed during the SEED–supported program “Fashion Design Marketplace” which started last November and was implemented in cooperation with the FDC, one of innovation and technology industry Councils at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Italian expert Professor Pier Luigi Mosconi.

The program aims to improve the capacities of the designers at the FDC and help them communicate with the world of industry and local fashion. In addition, the program seeks to stimulate the garment manufacturers to create modern designs for both local and international markets, which will

enhance the ability of the companies to market their products and increase revenues and employment.

The closing event was attended by 66 persons (half of them females) from MSMEs, FDC Students and governmental entities representing RMG stakeholders. It witnessed an important testimony (in the video below) from MS. Manar El-Garf, one of the trained designers.
